Diamond Ateliers
Signature Touches
The details that make a ring unmistakably yours. Each of these customisations can be applied to any Diamond Ateliers bespoke ring — from our Signature Series silhouettes to a fully original design. They are the quiet gestures that only you will know are there, until someone looks closely.
01
Heart Prongs
The prongs that hold your centre diamond are shaped into tiny hearts — visible from above, perfectly symmetrical, and entirely handcrafted. From a distance, the ring reads as a classic solitaire. Up close, the detail reveals itself.
Heart prongs work beautifully on round brilliant, oval, and cushion cut diamonds. They are one of our most-requested signature details and pair naturally with both the Twist and High Polish silhouettes.

02
Hidden Halo
A full halo of micro-pavé diamonds set beneath the centre stone — invisible from above, breathtaking from the side. When the ring catches the light at an angle, the hidden halo appears as a ring of fire beneath the diamond.
The hidden halo adds significant brilliance without changing the ring's profile from the top view. It is the detail that the wearer notices every time she looks at her hand from a certain angle. Popular on round and oval centre stones.

03
Colour Stones on the Bridge
A sapphire, ruby, emerald, or other coloured gemstone set on the underside of the ring, on the bridge between the band and the setting. Completely hidden when the ring is worn — a secret only the wearer knows.
Clients choose stones with significance — a birthstone, a favourite colour, or simply a flash of something unexpected. Blue sapphires are most popular, followed by vivid pink sapphires and deep green emeralds.

04
Customised Emblems
A motif engraved or cast into the bridge or inner band — a date, initials, a symbol, a small diamond-set star or flower. Emblems are designed together with you during the consultation process and refined until they feel exactly right.
We have created emblems ranging from simple Roman numeral dates to intricate floral motifs, constellation patterns, and custom Chinese characters. Every emblem is unique to the ring it is made for.

05
Milgrain Edges
A fine border of tiny metal beads hand-rolled along the edge of the band or setting. Milgrain is a technique from the Edwardian era that adds a delicate, vintage-inspired texture without making the ring look overtly antique.
Milgrain edges work particularly well on High Polish bands where the contrast between smooth metal and textured border creates a refined visual rhythm. They also complement bezel-set diamonds and vintage-cut stones such as Old European or cushion cuts.

06
Full & Half Bezel Settings
Instead of prongs, the centre diamond is encircled by a rim of metal — either fully (a complete bezel) or partially (a half or east-west bezel, which leaves the sides of the stone exposed). The bezel gives the ring a sleek, architectural silhouette and provides maximum protection for the diamond.
Bezel settings are ideal for clients with active lifestyles who are concerned about prongs catching on fabric or being knocked. They also suit elongated diamond shapes — oval, marquise, and pear — where the bezel wraps the pointed ends cleanly.

07
Petal Prongs
Each prong is sculpted into the shape of a delicate flower petal, curving gently inward to cradle the centre diamond. Together the prongs form a bloom — the diamond emerging from the centre of a flower. Romantic, feminine, and entirely handcrafted.
Petal prongs are most striking on round brilliant diamonds where the symmetry of the six petals mirrors the diamond's own facets. They also work beautifully with oval and cushion cuts. The floral silhouette can be kept subtle with slim petals, or made more pronounced with wider, more sculptural shaping — your choice during consultation.

08
Initials & Secret Engravings
Your initials, their initials, or both — Crafted on the Side of the band in a script or font of your choice. Simple, personal, and completely hidden from view unless the ring is removed. A detail that belongs only to the two of you.
We can also engrave a single initial, a pair of initials with a date, a short phrase, or coordinates of a meaningful place. For clients who want something more visual, we can also set a tiny diamond-set initial on the bridge — a monogram that catches the light from certain angles.

Every Detail Is Decided Together
Signature Touches are not add-ons from a menu. They are decisions we make together during your consultation, after we understand the ring, the person wearing it, and the story behind it. Some clients arrive knowing exactly which details they want. Others discover them through the conversation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I combine multiple Signature Touches on one ring?
Yes — and many clients do. Heart prongs with a hidden halo is one of our most popular combinations. A colour stone on the bridge paired with a custom emblem is another. During the consultation we will sketch the full design together and make sure all the elements work harmoniously.
How much do Signature Touches add to the price?
At Diamond Ateliers, every ring is built bespoke from the ground up — so Signature Touches are not extras bolted onto a standard design. They are part of the design conversation from the very beginning. The total price of your ring reflects everything we build into it together, whether that is heart prongs, a hidden halo, a colour stone on the bridge, or all three. Visit our Price Guide for a general sense of how we structure pricing, or book a consultation and we will give you a complete quote based on your specific design.
Can Signature Touches be added to an existing ring?
Signature Touches are designed into the ring from the very beginning — they cannot be added to a finished piece. If you have an existing ring you love, the honest answer is that it would need to be remade to incorporate these details properly. We will always tell you this upfront. If a remake is something you want to explore, bring the ring in and we will assess what is possible.
Are the colour stones on the bridge durable for daily wear?
Yes. The bridge position is protected — the stone sits underneath the ring and does not contact surfaces when the ring is laid flat. We use corundum family stones (sapphire, ruby) for the bridge as they rate 9 on the Mohs scale and are exceptionally hard-wearing. Emeralds can also be used but we advise clients on their slightly lower durability.
