Every Detail Considered
Band Profile
High Polish rings can be made with a flat, comfort-fit, or knife-edge band profile. Flat bands have a contemporary, architectural feel. Comfort-fit bands are gently rounded on the inside for exceptional wearability — our most popular choice. Knife-edge bands taper to a ridge along the top, catching light in a distinctive way.
Band Width
We typically recommend 1.8mm to 2.4mm for a classic look that does not overpower the centre stone. Wider bands (2.5mm to 3.5mm) make a bolder statement and work particularly well with larger diamonds or east-west oriented stones. We will size a sample against your hand during consultation.
Metal Options
Available in 18K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold, and platinum. Platinum is the definitive choice for High Polish — its natural white colour never requires rhodium plating and its density gives the polish an unmatched depth and weight.
Setting Styles
The most common settings on a High Polish band are the classic four-prong, six-prong, and bezel. Claw prongs maintain the minimal aesthetic while maximising light entry into the diamond. A full bezel gives complete protection and a sleek, modern silhouette. Half-bezels offer a middle ground.
Make It Yours
High Polish rings look effortless. Getting them right takes craft. Book a consultation and we will design your ring together — every dimension calibrated to your hand and your chosen diamond.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will a high polish band scratch easily?
All polished metal will develop fine surface scratches with daily wear — this is the nature of the material, not a defect. Platinum develops a desirable patina over time that many clients come to love. Gold rings can be re-polished easily as part of our aftersales service. We recommend an annual check-in.
What is the difference between platinum and white gold for a high polish ring?
Platinum is a naturally white metal that requires no rhodium plating. It is denser and heavier than gold, and its polish has a characteristic depth. White gold is a yellow gold alloy plated with rhodium for whiteness — it requires re-plating every few years but is a more affordable option.
Can I combine High Polish with a twisted or pavé element?
Yes — many clients blend silhouettes. A High Polish band with a single pavé-set shoulder, or a polished shank with a micro-pavé halo, are popular combinations. During your consultation we will sketch options together to find your ideal balance.
What diamond shapes work best with a High Polish band?
All shapes look beautiful on a High Polish band — that is the beauty of its neutrality. Round brilliants are timeless. Emerald and Asscher cuts are particularly stunning because the clean band mirrors their own geometric precision. Ovals on a plain polished band have a very elegant, minimal look.
