everything about lab grown diamonds
Yes. Lab-grown diamonds are 100% real diamonds, made of pure carbon arranged in the same crystal structure as mined diamonds. According to the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), they have the same optical, chemical and physical properties as natural diamonds.
“Simulants” (such as cubic zirconia or moissanite) only imitate a diamond’s look. They do not have the same hardness, brilliance, or longevity. Lab-grown diamonds, by contrast, are genuine diamonds—not simulants.
Yes. Because the composition is identical, a standard diamond tester will register a lab-grown diamond as a diamond.
First developed by General Electric in the 1950s for industrial use, early lab diamonds were low quality. Only in recent years have advances in technology produced gem-quality stones now available to consumers worldwide.
