Final Touches: Customised Engagement Rings
The difference between a beautiful ring and the perfect ring is often in the final details — the small choices that most people don't notice until they look closely, but that make the ring feel completely and undeniably yours.
Engravings
The inside of a ring band is the most traditional place for an engraving. Dates, initials, coordinates, short phrases — anything that fits within the band width can be engraved. At Diamond Ateliers, we can also engrave on the outside of certain band designs, or incorporate text into the design itself as a visible decorative element.
Gallery Details
The gallery is the underside of the ring setting — the part that faces the palm. It's rarely seen, which makes it a perfect place for personal details. A small sapphire, a tiny diamond, an engraved message, a decorative cutout — gallery details are the ring's private language, shared only between the two of you.
Side Stones and Bridge Details
The bridge of the ring — the section of band closest to the setting head — can be set with coloured gemstones or small diamonds for additional detail. A pair of rubies flanking the setting, or a sapphire inset into the gallery, adds a pop of colour that's visible from certain angles without being the first thing everyone sees.
Milgrain and Filigree
Milgrain is a row of tiny beaded metal detail along the edge of the band or setting, associated with vintage and Art Deco jewelry. Filigree is delicate openwork metalwork applied to the shank or gallery. Both are traditional craft techniques that add texture and a sense of handmade quality to a modern ring design.
