Anniversary Jewellery Gifts Singapore: A Practical Guide by Year and Budget

Jewellery as an Anniversary Gift

Fine jewellery works as an anniversary gift for a straightforward reason: it lasts as long as the marriage itself. Unlike experiences that are consumed or objects that wear out, a well-chosen piece of jewellery accumulates meaning alongside age. A ring given at a fifth anniversary becomes part of the permanent collection. A necklace given at a tenth anniversary gets worn alongside the wedding jewellery. These objects carry the date they were given.

This guide covers the milestone anniversaries and what jewellery gifts make sense at each — practically, emotionally, and financially.

First Anniversary

The first anniversary is traditionally associated with paper, which in the context of jewellery translates most naturally to a first significant piece after the wedding: something that wasn't part of the original bridal set but that begins the couple's collection together.

Good options at this point include a simple pendant or necklace — if one wasn't part of the bridal jewellery — or a first pair of fine diamond earrings. A delicate bracelet or bangle also works. The investment at year one doesn't need to be large; it needs to be thoughtful and wearable.

Fifth Anniversary

Five years is a natural pause for a more significant gift. The traditional association is wood, but the contemporary equivalent tends to be a first substantial addition to the jewellery collection.

The eternity ring is the most common anniversary jewellery gift and works particularly well at a fifth or tenth anniversary. It sits naturally alongside the engagement ring and wedding band and carries clear symbolism — the continuous circle of diamonds representing endurance. If the eternity ring wasn't given with the wedding, the fifth anniversary is a considered moment to introduce it.

Alternatively, a meaningful upgrade of an existing piece — larger diamond studs to replace a starter pair, a more substantial necklace — works well at year five.

Tenth Anniversary

Ten years is traditionally associated with diamonds — which makes jewellery the obvious gift. At ten years, the context for a more significant piece is clear.

For couples who haven't yet added an eternity ring, the tenth anniversary is the strongest moment to introduce one. A diamond tennis bracelet is an alternative for someone who already has eternity rings and earrings — a more statement piece that works across formal and casual contexts. A significant pendant in a stone or size that wouldn't have been appropriate at the wedding can also mark ten years well.

Twenty-Fifth and Beyond

Silver (twenty-fifth) and gold (fiftieth) anniversaries carry their own material associations. For jewellery: a significant bespoke commission — a redesigned or upgraded ring, a new piece that incorporates existing stones from the original wedding set, or something designed specifically to mark the occasion — carries more weight than a ready-made purchase at these milestones.

A ring reset or redesign, incorporating the original diamond from the engagement ring into a new setting, is one of the most personal bespoke commissions we work on. The stone carries its original meaning; the new design reflects who the couple is twenty or twenty-five years later.

Budget Guidance for Singapore

For a first or third anniversary: SGD 1,500–4,000 buys a meaningful piece — a good pair of diamond studs, a delicate pendant, or a simple bangle.

For a fifth anniversary eternity ring: SGD 3,000–8,000 covers a well-made half eternity ring with a lab-grown diamond in 18K gold. A full eternity ring in platinum with natural diamonds runs significantly higher.

For a tenth anniversary: SGD 6,000–15,000 for a diamond tennis bracelet or more substantial eternity ring in platinum; SGD 3,000–8,000 for an eternity ring in 18K gold with lab-grown stones.

For a twenty-fifth or fiftieth anniversary commission: the budget range is wide and depends entirely on the brief. A meaningful bespoke commission doesn't require a large stone — it requires careful thought about what the couple wants to mark and wear.

Practical Notes on Gifting

If you're commissioning a surprise gift, ring sizing requires care. Bring an existing ring the recipient wears on the intended finger, or ask a trusted friend or family member who might know. For pendants and earrings, sizing is not relevant — making them easier surprise gifts.

For milestone anniversaries, starting the commission three to four months in advance allows for a bespoke piece to be designed and made without time pressure. For ready-to-wear pieces, eight to twelve weeks is sufficient.
